Every school year, we use Acadience and NWEA Reading Benchmark Assessments to determine where students might need additional support in reading. Based on the scores of these tests, we place students in groups targeting their specific needs and use research-based interventions to improve those skills. These groups usually average a ratio of two to four students for one adult. We aim to provide a fast-paced, repetitive, skill-targeted intervention to help students improve their reading. These groups are called PACK Groups and meet Monday-Thursday at the same assigned time. Every other Friday, students are monitored to determine how the intervention is working and what growth they have made toward those targeted skills. These groups are fluid in that students can and will be moved from one group to another based on progress monitoring scores along with teacher recommendations.
