The LMS Peer-to-Peer team visited the elementary school today to share what they have learned about autism and other learning differences. Third graders learned what it might be like to experience sensory overload. Fourth and fifth graders learned that people with autism have areas of strength, just like everyone else! They participated in a lesson titled, "We Are ALL Smart Cookies" to learn about multiple intelligences.

The 8th-grade students celebrated reaching their grade level goal for positive behavior points in Class Dojo for the month of January today. Each core teacher provided a small treat for "Dojo Dessert Day" in all of their classes today. The top earners and most improved student for January received a gift card to Dairy Den. Great job, 8th-grade students!

Students in art have been working with black-light reactive colors as part of our STEAM "Space" unit. Mrs. Shadbolt pulled out the blacklights Monday for a little "glow fun" on "shine bright with kindness" day. Pictured in the background are a sampling of the upper elementary "I am a Star" Affirmations project.

Laingsburg Elementary’s 5th grade students celebrated Michigan’s 188th birthday with a “Celebrate Michigan Party.” They had a Social Studies lesson on statehood, including the two errors on our state seal. Be sure to ask one to find out if you don’t know what the are. Many thanks to the numerous parents who assisted us in making this a memorable experience. Students concluded the party with House Challenge of Michigan trivia in “Who wants to be a Michigander?”

The Young Fives Doctor’s Office is open! Our friends learned about caring for patients, asking them how they were feeling, recording their weight and height, and then treating them to get better. Some friends had their blood pressure checked and their heart listened to, while others got shots (they had their hand held!) and band aids. We took turns as an office receptionist, patients, and as medical caregivers.
